The 11-month-old boy was mauled to death inside his Detroit area home on Wednesday afternoon. The boy’s father apparently shot the famiy’s pit bull with a handgun, and the dog was dead by the time officers arrived. One neighbor said that the child’s mother was out on the porch, screaming that the dog had the baby by the head.

Friends told the Detroit Free Press that the baby was the family’s “miracle child.” The couple had been told they were unable to have children, but then the mother got pregnant. Police did not release the names of the parents or child.

Yup…totally agree. It doesn’t matter how well a dog is trained…IT’S STILL AN ANIMAL. People who don’t understand that will continue to suffer like this family.

I have a pitbull.. He is the sweetest dog ever.. So it doesnt lead to the pitbull problem it leads to dogs are animals and they sometimes have these problems. I hate it when people look at the pitbulls and say there the problem.

Some breeds of dogs are far more dangerous than others. WE have a Chocolate Lab. He has NEVER shown any aggression towards people. He loves children. If he ever shows aggression he will be put down. I love dogs but children are far more precious than any dog. A neighbor child calls our dog “uncle Ralph”. And calls him whenever he sees our dog outside. What kind of person wants a mean dangerous dog especially around children???
