Girl arrested for child porn — of herself — on cell phone

Posted on the October 10th, 2008 under crime, tech, teens by Carolina

The girl, 15, took nudie photos of herself on a cell phone and sent them to others. The teen from Newark, Ohio, is being processed in juvenile court and this week pleaded not guilty to charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and possession of criminal tools, both felonies.

Those who received the photos could face charges of possession of child porn, according to the Newark Advocate. Police were notified after school officials found out about the photos.

Teenagers sending out porno photos of themselves on their cell phones apparently is a big enough issue that the county prosecutor’s office made a presentation warning kids about it a month before the girl’s arrest.

The girl is now under house arrest and not allowed to use her cell phone or the Internet without adult supervision. Licking Valley High School Principal Wes Weaver sent an email to parents after the student was charged, reminding them to become more involved with how their kids are using their phones.

What a bunch of bullsh*t. “Child” pornography laws were implemented to protect “children” from exploitation by adults. This “child” cannot commit a crime by photographing herself. Her possession of her own photograph is not a crime either. And people she sends the photo to by phone can’t control her actions beforehand. How do they commit a crime, adult or not?

Seems the Taliban have spread to America. This is out of control religious fundamentalism. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have to agree. This is taking things way to far. This is a parental issue, 100%. The parents should be the ones to address it. That’s like accusing someone of having an affair if they masturbate.

Stupid girl. Hasnt she heard about this thing in the news before?
Tke pictures of yourself and they are going to spread like wildfire and say bye bye to your reputation.
this girl should get a huge spanking.
I would not mind doing it but I would have to see the pic first.

The best part is that they’ll convict her and she’ll have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life, completely ruining any chances at a college education, job or family.

Wow! the stupiedy of our youngest generation would lead to a increase spike of sex offenders in our own country. All the laws and money placed to protect them, but we still can’t protect them from themselves. Hopefully the law shows mercy on her and punish her family (I realize someone has to take the blame, it is US custom)..

This is ridiculous. HenryNimbledick, You are wrong about the “religious fundamentalism” crap! This is 100% pure liberal dictatorship!!! This is just another part of their hypocrisy in politics!!
They will charge and arrest children for doing childish things, but the pervert child molesters go free after a weekend in jail, if that! Their has not been any “Religious” outspoken leaders in any articles, it is mainstream media that is exploiting this news for rating purposes. ….Nothing more….nothing less!
